Public Meetings To Discuss The South County Transportation Plan

From Stacy Williams- Planning and Growth Management
**UPDATED NOTICE: Third Meeting Scheduled**

Hillsborough County will hold three additional public meetings to
discuss
the South County Transportation Study.  The Plan considers
transportation
improvements through the year 2050, above and beyond those improvements
identified in the Metropolitan Planning Organization's 2025 Needs Plan
and
the County's Corridor Preservation Plan.

The initial preliminary recommendations for the South County
Transportation
Plan were submitted to the Planning Commission on September 1 for the
Comprehensive Plan amendment review process.  Due to a large number of
amendments submitted, the South County Plan will now go through the
review
and adoption process in early 2008. During this time, a series of
public
presentations and workshops will be held with the Planning Commission
and
Board of County Commissioners.

The purpose of these additional public meetings is to present the
preliminary recommendations that were submitted to the Planning
Commission
and identify potential transportation improvements that should be added
or
deleted from the recommendations.  Maps showing these improvements will
be
available, as well as other graphics and project information.

The study area includes all of South Hillsborough County south of
Bloomingdale Avenue to the Manatee County line on the south, the Polk
County
line on the east, and Tampa Bay on the west.

County staff will be at the meetings to discuss the study and answer
any
questions residents may have.  Please attend, we welcome your input.
