On the trail...



Ah, Winter in Florida is a fleeting thing.
How ironic that the Beach Sunflower, that normally waves its bright yellow face along the swale side of a dune as you pass it on your way to a warm sunny beach, should be covered with crystals from a night that iced the neighborhood in frost and worried unprepared homeowners.
But the cold is a trigger for some plants such as this Chickasaw Plum which responded to the later rise in temperature with a premature showing of its snowy white blossoms under a spectacularly blue afternoon sky.
