RCDF Oct 21 2008 Public Meeting

Ruskin Community Development Foundation fred@RuskinHistory.org 813 298-6028   Please plan to attend the next public meeting of the Ruskin Community Development Foundation to be held on October 21, 2008 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the HCC SouthShore campus 551 24th Street Northeast Ruskin , Florida 33570.  The RCDF will provide updates on its continuing support of the Ruskin Community Plan and is seeking input from the public. Two of RCDF's goals to be discussed at this meeting are the preservation of Ruskin's natural environment and revitalization of the Ruskin Town Center .    Our first presenter will be Jan Smith a former member of the county's planning commission; acting chairwoman of the ELAPP (Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program) General Committee, a citizen's advisory panel. She will be showing a short video concerning the future of ELAPP and will answer questions on the subject.   The evening's program will include the re-introduction of Jim Hosler back to the Ruskin community.  Jim has been retained by the RCDF to assist with the redevelopment of downtown Ruskin as was envisioned in the Ruskin Community Plan.  We are actively moving forward, have hired professional staff to assist and need your assistance and advice.  Over the next several months, the RCDF and Jim will be pursuing Federal, state and local incentives and grant programs that can help turn downtown Ruskin around in the short term.    Please join us and help reignite Ruskin.   Ruskin Community Development Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation and the first weekend in May each year hosts the Ruskin Tomato and Heritage Festival.
